Cameroon: Two lawyers kidnapped in Buea

At least two lawyers have been kidnapped in Buea, headquarters of the South West region of Cameroon by unidentified armed men, sources have said.

Barristers Victor Affah Ndetan and Wilfred Shribe were kidnapped on Thursday January 25 around the Mile 16 neighbourhood at the entrance to Buea and taken to an unidentified location, sources said.

Locals in Mile 16 said the armed men carried separately carried out the act on board their bikes as they swooped on the lawyers before taking them into the bushes. For the moment, no armed group has claimed responsibility for the act.

The Mile 14- Mile 16 stretch of the road into Buea has witnessed is one of the danger zones of the town with frequent clashes between security forces and separatist fighters as well as several kidppings.
