The information was confirmed in a statement by the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to Tunis, the two Tunisian workers, who were in Cameroon as part of a road construction project, were abducted on 15 March 2018 by unidentified armed militiamen.

A crisis unit was set up by the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to monitor the progress of this case, in collaboration with the Cameroonian authorities.

Kidnappings have become commonplace since the arrest of Ambazon leaders led by Sisiku Ayuk Tabe. The latest is Saturday, March 17, 2018 when the GCE BOARD PCA was kidnapped while traveling to a political demonstration in Lebialem in the Southwest Region. He was released on Monday late morning.
