Assaults became legions in Cameroon

It is the Center for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa (CHRDA) that reveals the information of a lady savagely mutilated in Buea. 

Below are the facts 

On February 23, I appointed the Executive Director and Gender Officer of the Center for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa (CHRDA) to visit Mrs. Ajaga Catherine, who was found at Buea, violently mutilated in the early hours of Wednesday, February 21, 2018. 

Catherine was admitted urgently to Buea General Hospital, where she underwent hours of life-saving surgical procedures. She lost her left breast, her vulva was completely removed, meanwhile her right breast was happily recovered by doctors. She entered hemorrhagic shock and the brave doctors resuscitated her, she remains in a critical but stable state.

There are risks of infections, especially in the genital area. Therefore, we call on supporters to support because Catherine will need more treatment for her injuries and psychological support. 

We must do more to protect girls and women from violent attacks and genital mutilation.
