The Kosala Bilingual High School is the second largest school in the Meme Department

This is the second time that this general educational institution knows the passing of the flames, in the space of three months. 

The inhabitants of Kosala, a village in the Meme department (South West region), helplessly attended the fire that devastated the local bilingual high school on Monday, December 11, 2017. According to the testimonies gathered on the premises , the fire was signaled around 18:40. The people immediately called the fire brigade unit of the nearby town of Kumba, who arrived a few minutes later with a truck. 

Despite the firefighters' efforts, the flames continued to consume the buildings, and burned them to ashes. The administrative block of the school, which includes the offices of the director, the deputy director and the director's private secretary, was particularly affected.

This fire is the second recorded in the Kosala bilingual high school in less than three months. Last September, a similar fire consumed nearly 150 graduates of former GCE laureates. Some reports indicate that on several occasions, high school security officers intercepted individuals who were attempting to set them on fire. 

The Kosala Bilingual High School is the second largest secondary school in the Meme Department in terms of numbers. Investigations would have been opened to discover the cause of the fire. 

A few weeks ago, Regional Delegates of Secondary Education and Basic Education, Mombakued Victor Yewoh and Dorothy Motase announced to South West Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai, as well as education and security actors. Southwest, that 56 schools had been victims of arson over the past year.
