Breaking News: Boko Haram Commander Surrenders To the Authorities

Boko Haram commander surrenders and cooperates with army

A former commander of Boko Haram

He has long conducted operations in Cameroon under the emblem of the sect.

A former commander of Boko Haram, Baba Goigoy, and his element, Ahmadou Oumate, officially left the terrorist group on October 26, 2017. They went in the early hours of the day and implored the clemency of the population for their many abuses. "They had been signaled late the night before by sending a passerby to inform us of their presence not far from the village. They asked that we go to meet them and bring them back to the village.

As it was getting late, we did not want to take any risk and it was only in the early hours that we went in the early hours of the morning and found them at the designated place. We wanted to take them directly to the gendarmerie brigade, but they begged us to take them to the village chief to beg his pardon first. They repented before him. Later, we took them to the brigade where they were auditioned.

They have held important positions in the sect, "said Modou Ali, a member of Tolkomari's vigilance committee. Baba Goigo, from Bornori, joined the Boko Haram sect in 2014. Because of his commitment and zeal for the cult's cause, he was soon promoted to leader of about 50 fighters. And it was in this capacity that he directed and conducted operations under the emblem of the sect. "He is known to the vigilance committee. It has been reported to us that he was at the head of a group of combatants and reported directly to the great leaders of the sect. Everything suggests that he was anointed by the cadres of the sect to surrender because he knows a lot of things.

If he has accepted to turn his back on the sect, he must really cooperate with the army. They must help the army to annihilate this group definitively. If they do not, it will mean they have not left the terrorist group completely. They must denounce their former leaders to win the trust of the people.

All those who have returned have not yet helped us. They never said how the group gets organized, plans its attacks and where they hide. Whenever they are questioned on the issue, they admit to being back because they are hungry. And when they are no longer hungry and the sect will shine once again for more enticing living conditions, will they regain the cult? ", Says a member of the vigilance committee of Tolkomari.

The new repentant, Ahmadou Oumaté, has in any case confided that more than a hundred fighters were in the bush and ready to take the plunge. Other returns include those of Fanta Oumaté, a young woman enlisted in 2014 and returned on October 25. Three others, Abba Modou Moussa, Abba Chétima and Malloum Haman also went to Tolkomari on October 28th. The day before, in Gansé, two other ex-combatants had surrendered: Adji and Ali Zarami.
